Buyer Beware: Check This OFF Your Gift List

Stop right there! Before pressing that tempting “purchase” button on the Living Social or Groupon offer, let’s play a game: Buyer Beware.

Although I know it’s a nearly irresistible urge to grab a bargain, especially now with last-minute Christmas shopping wearing heavily on your shoulders and no idea what to purchase for some of those on your list, I want you to know that some of those “deals” might have some steep repercussions that go along with their purchase.

The FDA is currently warning consumers that “deals” on BOTOX® and fillers might not be a good buy. Several US Medi Spas have been using non-approved dermal fillers and Botox-type injections. While less expensive than the real thing, they are, unfortunately, not the real thing.

The challenge with BOTOX® & Filler Discounts:
Everybody in Delaware who uses BOTOX® Cosmetic loves to get a bargain. Did you know that BOTOX® must be diluted to use it? Some practitioners water it down more than it should be, so it will go farther. That means it might not work as well or last as long. That’s not really saving you anything in the long run, is it? No.

My advice is to purchase BOTOX® and fillers from the same highly skilled physician each time, rather than shopping around for a “better deal” that can expose you to products that are either old or overly diluted.
Truth is, the results of your injections will be more effective, last longer, and look better when purchased from a physician with experience in their use. It’s the hand that holds the syringe that makes the big difference in fillers.

Merry Chistmas and Happy 2013!

A Way to Treat Those Aging Lobes

Just like any other area of skin, earlobes are prone to the signs of aging. From drooping earring holes wrinkled skin, your ears deserve to look just as beautiful as you do.

Dermal fillers—such as Juvederm or Radiesse—can now be used to treat aging earlobes. More commonly used for wrinkles in the face, these fillers can rejuvenate your maturing lobes. For earring holes that have drooped due to heavy jewelry, fillers can be injected to minimize the size of the whole and add support.

Plastic surgeons can also treat wrinkles on the earlobe with fillers as they would treat wrinkles around the eyes or mouth.

Avoiding sun exposure and heavy earrings are ways to prevent premature aging of the skin, however, collagen and elastin naturally breaks down over time.

While some patients prefer to undergo otoplasty for more permanent wrinkle reduction, dermal fillers both deliver permanent results and no downtime. If you are a Delaware resident considering fillers for your ears,  our friendly staff at Danyo Plastic Surgery would be happy to address any questions or concerns you may have.

Fixing Dark Circles Beneath the Eyes Due to Tear Trough Deformity

If you notice dark circles beneath your eyes or a hollow under the lower lid area, you might have what’s called a tear trough deformity. Sounds scarier than it actually is! A tear trough deformity is just a furrow or channel that develops beneath the lower eyelid—usually with aging but some people have this naturally just due to their genetic makeup. When light hits the tear trough area of the eyes, the furrow creates a shadow, which can also look like dark circles beneath the eyes. Now, if the area under your eyes is puffy or baggy, this makes everything look a bit worse. The tear trough area can be remedied with just some injected filler, but if you have puffiness under the eyes, that must be treated with a lower blepharoplasty.

In my Delaware plastic surgery practice, I’ve found Juvederm to be terrific as a filler to get rid of that shadowy area. It fills the area nicely, is an easy gel to insert and lasts long enough to satisfy those with this problem. Call us if this is an issue for you and let’s see how quickly we can help you get rid of it!
